Six members of Tiverton Swimming Club’s Senior Squad travelled to Cardiff International Pool to compete in Exeter’s Level 1 Long Course meet over the course of a weekend.  Having had  a disturbed night’s sleep due to a minor fire at the hotel the team were well and truly fired up ready to compete in the morning!

Three Towers Open Meet

Ten swimmers from Tiverton Swimming Club excelled at the recent Three Towers Open Meet held in the Olympic size pool at Millfield School in Somerset.  With a total of seven gold, six silver and seven bronze medals the weekend was a huge success.

Imps Gala

Thirteen local Primary Schools competed in this years’ Tiverton Imps Swimming Gala hosted by Tiverton Swimming Club which was held at Exe Valley Leisure Centre on Sunday 16 May 2010. 

This is an annual event to encourage children from local schools to get together and experience competitive swimming.  To start the event, Tiverton Swimming Club members demonstrated all aspects of the Club from Learn to swim right through to Masters swimming which included our Olympian swimmer, Sue Haigh.

Three hundred and eighteen swimmers from twenty seven swimming clubs across the region competed in the Exeter May Meet held at the Pyramids pool over the weekend of the 8th and 9th May 2010.  Thirteen Tiverton members travelled to Exeter to compete in the thirty event competition taking home six medals and achieving some great personal best times.

The best swimmers from all over Devon competed in this years’ County Championships which were held over four weekends.  The top seventeen swimmers from Tiverton Swimming Club who qualified to compete achieved the best results in Coach Carder’s history at the club.  Out of 73 swims the Tivvy team clocked up 51 personal best times.

Tiverton Swimming Club is recruiting permanent swimming coaches

To coach recreational/squad swimmers through to national swimmers. The position is comprised of approximately 5 coaching hours (inc. evenings & weekends), and attendance at some competitions. Some experience in coaching swimmers, including Masters, to a high standard is necessary. Up to date CRB Check necessary. Please email me to apply or for more information.




Six teams competed in the Exeter Imps Gala at the Pyramids pool on Saturday 20 February 2010.  Twenty four young Tiverton members competed in the forty nine event competition and took 4th place overall.

On the second day of the Devon County Championships held at Exe Valley Leisure Centre, Tiverton on Saturday, Emily Abraham broke the Devon County record in the girls nine year old 100m Individual Medley with a Championship best time of 1:27.43, securing her second Gold Medal.

Tiverton Swimming Club has been hit by the recent icy weather as training sessions have had to be cancelled.  The club’s swimmers should be preparing for the Devon County Championships which are being held over several weekends between 7th February and 7th March 2010. 

All swimmers will be competing within their age group as of 7th March 2010.

Tiverton Swimming Club is looking for permanent swimming teachers for:

Fridays 18:40–19:20 and 19:20-20:00

Wednesdays 18:15-19:15

You need to have a good knowledge of the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming and hold a Swimming Teaching Qualification and an up to date CRB Check. Please email me to apply or for more information.



Eighteen Tiverton Club squad members have qualified to compete in the Devon County Championships in 2010 which will be held by Tiverton Swimming Club at Exe Valley Leisure Centre and by Plymouth Leander at Central Park, Plymouth during February and March.

Seventy Two swimmers aged from 6 to 57 years competed in 19 events for awards in this year’s Club Championships held at Exe Valley Leisure Centre, Tiverton.

The club swimmers recorded 168 personal best times with fantastic performances from all of the team.

Tiverton Swimming Club Star, Sue Haigh, took seven gold’s and one silver in the British Gas ASA Masters in Sheffield.  Sue took first place in the female (55-59 years) 100m individual medley, 50m and 200m butterfly, 50m, 100m, 200m and 800m freestyle.  It was a close finish in the 400m freestyle where Sue achieved second place for silver.



Mole Valley Farmers sponsored Tiverton Swimming Club tracksuits which have enabled the club members to look smart at competitions which they attend all over the South West of England and Nationally.



Five young Tiverton swimmers achieved their Gold Challenge Award.  Lauren Aitchison, Chloe Greenslade, Ryan Saunders, Gemma Owen and Rosie Jones all completed the gruelling challenge.
