Friday Night Section General Information and Safety Notices
Welcome to the Friday Night Learn to Swim Section of the Club. Our voluntary team of teachers have a love of swimming and aim to make the experience as enjoyable as possible for your children.
If you have a general query regarding Friday Nights, please contact our administrator, Jackie Ell. Telephone Number 01884 256704
Teachers are always happy to discuss any concerns with parents at the end of the Friday Night session.
On enrolment please ensure you complete the two membership forms provided; one for the Club and one for the Amateur Swimming Association.
We would like to draw your attention to the following few points which are raised for everyone’s safety.
Swimming Times and Supervision of Children:
First session 6.40 pm; Second session 7.20 pm
Children should be changed ready to enter the water at the above times. The Club is only responsible for children during the time of their lesson; parents should supervise their children whilst in the changing room, both before and after the swimming session. Please do not arrive unduly early, as there are occasions when children are left on their own for some considerable time before their lesson starts.
If parents need to go on poolside for any reason, please could outdoor shoes be removed to comply with health and safety regulations.
Goggles
It is a Friday Night Section policy that goggles should not be worn by children during swimming lessons. Many young children are not able to use them safely and they can hinder concentration. We also feel children need to be able to cope if they find themselves in an unforeseen situation outside of club swimming times. You will be asked to provide evidence if your child needs to wear them for a medical condition. Thank you for your co-operation.
Spectating
Please watch your children from the seating area provided and not from the changing rooms or walkways. This is to comply with health and safety regulations and keep fire exits clear. It also avoids unnecessary distraction during lessons.
Changing / Cubicles / Lockers
The pool provides cubicles to change in and lockers to hold your child’s clothes while he/she is swimming. Some children are tempted to leave their clothes in the cubicles rather than remove them to a locker. This is frustrating during the changeover period as children then have difficulty finding an empty cubicle in which to change. PLEASE USE THE LOCKERS PROVIDED. A member of the Club will patrol the changing area periodically and if clothes are left in cubicles they will be removed to a locker.
Swimwear
Please could swimmers not wear long, baggy shorts as these make some of the skills difficult to execute.
