Welcome to Tiverton Swimming Club

We are a members' club, run by volunteers. A Management Committee is elected by the members, for the benefit of members.  We are non-profit-making.  All the fees and sponsorship we take in are ploughed back to the objects of the club - i.e. competitive swimming.

With around 300 members, providing opportunities for young people to receive coaching in a friendly environment, Tiverton swimming club is thriving. Whether for the very young gaining basic skills, or competing at various levels, the aim for all is to achieve their maximum potential, while at the same time having fun.

The club has 3 sections. Starting with Friday night ‘Learn to Swim’ where children as young as 5 follow an ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) structured programme.

From this, progression is to Wednesday ‘Badge Night’. Again following an ASA program with targets of Bronze, Silver and Gold awards, this series develops swimming technique, speed, stamina and other water skills. Once Gold is attained, individuals are eligible to join the squad sessions.

Run by the club’s newly appointed Head Coach, Steve Carder, the squad sessions are held on a variety of days and times throughout the week. Steve has bought with him exciting plans and together with the committee intends to develop the club further.

The club is currently in the process of applying for a Swim 21 accreditation. This ‘Quality Mark’ recognises nationally and regionally commitment to providing safe, effective services focussing on enabling athletes, coaches, and administrators to thrive in the best possible environment.

The club recently held a presentation of trophies for its 2007 Annual Championships. With all the main strokes and distances covered. This event involves the whole club coming together to take part in competitive racing with a chance for all to compete for medals and trophies and set qualifying times for future events.

The Devon County Championships are currently taking place, and the club can boast 14 children and 1 adult achieving qualification. They are Daniel and Rachel Ayshford, Charlie and Harry Beeson, Abbi Budgett, Lorna and Meg Callahan, Megan Chard-Maple, Madeleine Ell, Ashton Farrant, Rebecca Jenkinson, Jess Lepper, Alicia and Will Parr and Callum Stoneman. The club wishes them all good luck.

In addition, the club has adults and children who compete not only at County level, but also Western Counties, National and International level.
